Does walker offer english as a second language (esl) courses?

Since we do not offer English as a Second Language courses, international applicants from non-English speaking countries must have strong reading, writing and speaking skills in English to receive admission consideration.

Is there anything different about the application process for international students?

International applicants living in the United States with a parent may follow the Admission Process.

In addition to the admission requirements for domestic applicants, international applicants living outside of the United States must complete the International Student Supplement found in their Ravenna account.

The application fee for international students seeking visas is $150.

Student I-20s will be issued once a student has been accepted and we have received the enrollment contract and deposit.

International students must provide a current and valid passport.

How do i apply?

Create an account in Ravenna. Follow these steps for the Admission Process to apply. Complete the online application in your Ravenna account, including the International Student Supplement. You have officially applied once you have submitted the $150 non-refundable application fee.

Within your Ravenna account, you are able to request the teacher, principal, and/or guidance counselor evaluations. All documation,  including transcript and teacher evaluation, must be received in English and come directly from the applicant's school or a certified translator.

How do i schedule a virtual tour, observation and/or interview?

We understand that time and distance may make an on-campus observation or interview difficult for international students. If you are unable to travel to Walker during the admission process, we ask that you contact the admission team to set up a virtual observation or interview. you can reach our admission team by email at admission@thewalkerschool.org. We can arrange tours, observations and interviews via Google Meet or Zoom. We will make every effot to accomodate different time zones.

DOES WALKER PROVIDE HOUSING FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?
The Walker School does not have on-campus housing and cannot promise placement for incoming international students. We do have a long history of coordinating host families. We work to pair our international students with a Walker family in order to offer a full immersion and true family experience. We also work with local coordinators and consultants to help with housing.
IS financial assistance available to international students?
Limited financial assistance is available to international students. The Walker School uses Blackbaud Financial Aid Management to process financial assistance applications. The school code is 14329. International families should complete this application to the best of their ability and be prepared to submit translated tax and income documents if requested.
