Daryll joined The Walker School community as a 10th grader and quickly made his mark as a multi-sport athlete, participating in Varsity Football, Varsity Basketball, and Varsity Track. He was also involved in 4-H and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). After graduating from Walker, Daryll attended Alabama State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. In 2022, he returned to his alma mater as an Assistant Teacher in the Lower School and is currently the 3rd Grade Assistant. In addition to his role in the classroom, Daryll coaches Varsity Football, Middle School Boys Basketball, and Middle School Track. Daryll and his wife, Jasmine, have three children—Bryant, Brooklyn, and Dominic. A devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, Daryll enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and playing video games. What are some of your favorite memories from your time as a student here? Winning the first homecoming football game in Walker football history. Being awarded the Patricia H. Mozley Award for Outstanding New Student. Were there any teachers or mentors who had a lasting impact on you? Mr. Scott Phillips, Mr. Ira Dawson What was it like walking back onto campus for the first time as an employee instead of a student? My first time back on campus gave me a sense of pride and excitement, just as I remembered feeling when I was on campus for my first time as a student. How has the school changed since you were a student? How has it stayed the same? There have been tremendous changes to Walker physically, but the spirit and authenticity are still the same. There is also a more diverse student body, which is great to see. What do you enjoy most about teaching or working at the school now? The thing that I enjoy most about teaching at Walker is being able to pour into the future generations and make a positive impact on how they will ultimately contribute to the world. How do you see your role in shaping the school’s future? I believe that my work has made an impact already; however, I hope to continue to grow professionally and continue to make an impact in helping Walker reach its fullest potential.
