Alumni Faculty Spotlight Kayla Hall | The Walker School

8/18/25

FROM STUDENTS TO COLLEAGUES:

KAYLA HALL

Kayla joined Walker in 8th grade and graduated in 2014. As a student, she was active in cheerleading, the Black Student Affinity Group, and Peer Leadership. She went on to earn a degree in Public Relations with a minor in Communications from the University of Georgia. In 2023, Kayla returned to Walker as a First Grade Assistant Teacher. Outside the classroom, she enjoys music, traveling, and all things pop culture. Her brother, Malcolm Hall ’21, is also a proud Walker alum.

What are some of your favorite memories from your time as a student here?

Being part of the musicals, helping to choreograph dances for spirit week, traveling to France twice with Ms. May, and helping out in the Lower School EDP. Funny how things work out!

What was it like walking back onto campus for the first time as an employee instead of a student?

I had come to visit very often, and my brother graduated in 2021, so returning was like coming home! It was great to see so many familiar faces who also recognized me.

How has the school changed since you were a student? How has it stayed the same?

Seeing the development of the Warren building was amazing because I graduated right before construction started. It is a beautiful extension to the campus. The heart and spirit of Walker remains the same - being on the other side as a faculty member, I see how much love and knowledge our teachers pour into the students, families, and entire community.

Are there any traditions or events that are especially meaningful to you?

The Homecoming walkouts, Grandparents + Special Friends Day, and Multicultural Day are my favorites.

What makes this school community unique, in your opinion?

Even being so young, the children value their education and work hard for their teachers, their families, and themselves.
