Applying to the Walker School

Welcome to The Walker School, a college-preparatory, independent school in Marietta, Georgia. At Walker, our Admission Team is committed to providing families with an authentic, in-depth understanding of our programs.
Throughout the admission process, you will have the opportunity to engage with our admission team, our administration and talented faculty, our students, and our parent body. Our hope is to provide you with a multitude of perspectives to help you develop a deeper understanding of the Wonder of Walker.

Once you have created an account, you will see The Walker School listed in the directory of schools in the Atlanta area. After selecting Walker you will have the option to "Explore", register for an event, or apply for admission. We appreciate your interest in The Walker School and we look forward to seeing you soon!

  • Early Learners and Pre-K

    • Students enrolled in Walker's Early Learners Program must have turned 3 years old by August 1st.
    • Students enrolled in Walker's Pre-K program must have turned 4 years old by Sept. 1.
    • We encourage all prospective families to schedule a campus visit. Please register through Ravenna, or contact our Admission office.
    • Click on the “Apply Now” link above to complete the online application and submit the $85 non-refundable application fee.
    • Please register your child for an observation visit via your Ravenna application account. On-campus observation visits are scheduled to begin in January.
    • If applicable, please submit the confidential teacher evaluation form to your current school. The school will return the completed form directly to us.
    • Current immunization records for children immunized outside the state of Georgia are required by the first day of the school year.
    • Per AAAIS Admission Procedures, admission decisions for applicants to Early Learners and Pre-Kindergarten may be made on a rolling basis.  Walker may notify a family applying for kindergarten of their admission decision prior to the common notification date if the family has a written offer of acceptance from a non-AAAIS school, requiring a commitment prior to Saturday, April 1, 2023.
    • For your convenience, you will have the ability to track your progress through the admission process via your Ravenna application account.

    Admission decisions will be available to you on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
     
  • Kindergarten

    • Students enrolled in Walker's Kindergarten program must have turned 5 by Sept. 1.
    • We encourage all prospective families to schedule a campus visit. Please register through Ravenna, or contact our Admission office.
    • Click on the “Apply Now” link above to complete the online application and submit the $85 non-refundable application fee.
    • Please register your child for an observation visit via your Ravenna application account. On-campus observation visits are scheduled to begin in January.
    • Submit the confidential teacher evaluation form to your current school. The school will return the completed form directly to us.
    • Have your pediatrician send a current immunization form if your child was immunized outside the state of Georgia.

  • New Avenues Dyslexia Program

    • We encourage all prospective families to schedule a campus visit. Please register through Ravenna, or contact our Admission office.
    • To begin the application process, click on the “Apply Now” link above to complete the online application, and submit the $85 non-refundable application fee. 
    • Please sign the transcript release form found in your online account to request your current school to send us your child’s transcript.
    • Please contact our Admission Office for the New Avenues Dyslexia Program Parent Statement form and Teacher Evaluation Form.
    • Please use the Teacher Evaluation form you receive from the Admission Office in lieu of the form provided in the online Ravenna account.
    • Please provide Walker’s Admission Office with a copy of your child’s current (within the last three years) psychoeducational evaluation report.
    • Once Walker has received your child’s application, transcript, Parent Statement form, Teacher Evaluation form, and psychoeducational evaluation report, we will contact you to schedule an assessment visit for your child.
    • You will receive feedback from Walker’s admission committee shortly after your child’s assessment visit. Per AAAIS Admission Procedures for the 2022-23 school year, Walker may use a rolling notification process for the New Avenues Dyslexia Program.
  • Grade 1

  • Grades 2-5

    • We offer shadow visits to students in Grades 2-5 to spend the day in the classroom.
    • Click on the “Apply Now” link above to complete the online application and submit the $85 non-refundable application fee.
    • Have your pediatrician send a current immunization form if your child was immunized outside the state of Georgia.
    • In January, submit the confidential teacher evaluation forms to your child’s current teachers and the transcript release form to your child’s current school. The completed forms will be returned directly to us.

  • Grades 6-12

    • We encourage all prospective families to schedule a campus visit. Please register through Ravenna, or contact our Admission office.
    • We offer shadow visits for students in Grades 6-12 to spend the day in the classroom. Please register for a shadow date in Ravenna.
    • Click on the “Apply Now” link above to complete the online application and submit the $85 non-refundable application fee.
    • In January, submit the English and Math confidential teacher evaluation forms to your child’s current teachers, and the transcript request form to your child’s current school. The completed forms will be returned directly to us.
    • Transcripts must include standardized testing. If no standardized testing is available, please click here to sign up for admission testing with SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). Our SSAT school code is 8008. Students submitting standardized testing from their current school, rather than SSAT testing, will be asked to submit a brief writing sample in response to a writing prompt that will be provided by Walker's Admission Office. 
    • Walker's Admission Office will contact you to schedule an interview for your child in person or via Google Meet.
    • For your convenience, you will have the ability to track your progress through the admission process via your Ravenna application account. Admission decisions will be available to you on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
    • Per AAAIS Admission Procedures for 2022-23, Walker may notify a family of their admission decision prior to the common notification date if the family has a written offer of acceptance from a non-AAAIS school, requiring a commitment prior to April 1.
     
  • International Students

    The Walker School seeks to maintain a diverse educational community that embraces a variety of nationalities, ethnic customs, cultures and lifestyles to enhance the learning experience for all students.  Our international admission offers students from around the globe a rigorous academic program in a nurturing and inviting community where they can explore our numerous curricular and extracurricular programs, resulting in a well-rounded education.

    International Admission Process
    • International students living in the United States with a parent may follow the domestic admission process.
    • Click on the “Apply Now” link above to complete the online application and submit the $150 non-refundable application fee.
    • In addition to the admission requirements for domestic students, please complete the International Student Supplement found in your Ravenna application account.
    • Since we do not offer English as a Second Language courses, international students from non-English speaking countries must have strong reading, writing, and speaking skills in English to receive admission consideration.  International students may submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the SSAT. For information on the TOEFL, contact The College Board at Tel: (609) 921-9000 or click here. Our TOEFL school code is B116.  Our SSAT school code is 8008.
    • All documentation, including transcript and teacher evaluation, must be received in English.
    • Interviews will be scheduled to take place via Google Meet. 
    • Student I-20s will be provided once we have received the enrollment contract and deposit.
    • International students must provide a current and valid passport.
    • Admission decisions will be available to you on Saturday, April 1, 2023, via your Ravenna application account.  Per AAAIS Admission Procedures for 2022-23, if an international applicant is only applying to The Walker School, Walker may notify the applicant of the admission decision prior to the common notification date.
