New Avenues Dyslexia Program Details

New Avenues Dyslexia Program

Walker’s New Avenues Dyslexia Program provides a “school within a school” opportunity for students with diagnosed language-based learning differences. Core literacy instruction is presented in small instructional groups which utilize specialized prescriptive teaching and consistent reinforcement. This unique learning environment is paired with expanded socialization opportunities as students participate in co-curricular activities and school-wide events with grade level peers. Students in New Avenues experience the joy of learning in an environment filled with the multisensory instruction developed for their learning needs while also experiencing the traditions and family community of Walker’s PK-12th grade experience.

The New Avenues Dyslexia Program utilizes a strength and strategies approach by providing remediation while also nurturing areas of strength and interest. Nurturing a love of learning and preparing students for success when they exit New Avenues is our primary goal.
