New Avenues Dyslexia Program

The Walker School New Avenues Dyslexia Program serves children with dyslexia in grades 1-5 who have above-average academic aptitude and a strong desire to fulfill their abundant potential. The program was developed by renowned consultant Gena Farinholt and experienced speech/language pathologist Sue Rittenberg.

With dedicated support at home and at school, students in New Avenues will work and learn within Walker’s college-preparatory environment. Remediated students will then transition into the existing school community with the strategies and resources to flourish in the classroom and beyond.
Our experienced, Orton-Gillingham certified teachers address each student’s struggles and build upon each child’s strengths as they work in our dedicated classroom spaces. This targeted instruction allows students to close the gap between their cognitive potential and their academic achievement.
