Primary School Art Show Volunteers Needed
As we prepare for our annual Primary School Art Show, we are in need of some fabulous parent volunteers to help make the magic happen. Absolutely no artistic skill is required and there is a wide range of ways to help.  Please consider volunteering or reach out to Mrs. Whittingham with any questions.

Lower School Tours for Current Primary School Families
Please join us for an opportunity to get the inside scoop on what takes place in the Lower School. We will be touring on January 25th, from 8:15 - 9:45 a.m., just with our current Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten families, to tour the Lower School.

If you are interested in joining us for this fun trek across campus, please RSVP using the following link. We will have coffee and pastries available beforehand to fuel you up! Both tours will start and conclude in the Primary School. We hope you will take this opportunity to see where Wonder leads you.

Wednesday, January 24: Parent Education Session
Please join us on Wednesday, January 24 from 8:00-9:00 a.m. to hear from Occupational Therapist, Stephanie Young. Sensory processing is an important part of child development and can influence movement, language, social skills, and emotional well-being. Stephanie Young is an occupational therapist with 20 years of experience who has recently trained our Primary School Staff about sensory integration. We want to extend the learning experience to parents as well so you can gain another perspective on your child's sensory experiences. Some children may be sensory seekers because they crave movement and touch a lot while others who avoid textures and activity may be sensory avoiders. Sensory preferences are typical but sometimes they can hinder participation and regulation. Join us for a parent education series to learn more about your child's sensory needs and how to support them outside of school.

Friday, January 26: Hoopcoming
Primary School students are invited to help celebrate Hoopcoming by attending the Varsity basketball game in Coles Gym at 7:00 p.m. We will be showing our support for the basketball team by wearing our most festive Walker Wear on Friday, January 26th. Come to school in your best Walker spirit-wear!

Counselor's Corner
In guidance this month, we will be continuing to focus on how we are all different, yet the same. To plant seeds of inclusion and respect, we will be reading books, playing games, and talking about how although we are one big family at The Walker School, we are all uniquely and wonderfully made. We are having big discussions about different diagnoses, such as some people that you may encounter in life may need an inhaler to play outside, need a wheelchair to move around, need special glasses to see, or may need tools to focus in the classroom. We are all made differently! One person who worked hard to include ALL people is Dr. Martin Luther King. We can be like Dr. King in accepting and encouraging all those around us.
