New Walker Director of Development

Walker is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Sirk as the new Director of Development. Elizabeth, who was selected during a national search, is a seasoned non-profit executive with nearly 20 years of leadership experience in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors. She is currently the Chief Development Officer for St. Vincent de Paul Georgia, a statewide nonprofit organization that focuses on Hunger, Housing and Health. She will begin July 1.

Walker wants to thank Shelly Manuel for her dedicated service to the school. A Walker alum, Shelly has played an integral role in our development team. She led the $10 million “Wonder of We” campaign, which included the Warren Science and Technology Building, the purchase of property and development of fields at 815 Allgood and the renovation of classrooms to house our arts programs, along with many other fundraising efforts. She stepped into the Interim Director of Development position in October and helped to guide Walker through both the Annual Fund and a record level of GOAL revenue for financial aid. 

Elizabeth, a graduate of The University of Georgia, brings extensive experience in fundraising and development, as well as a deep passion for our school’s mission and values. She also has a personal connection to Walker. Her grandfather Albert “Bert” Huntington Hatch, worked alongside Father Walker, one of the founders of St. James Day School, at St. James Episcopal Church. He also served as Assistant Headmaster at the school, which later became The Walker School. 

“I have always known of this family history and thus followed The Walker School news and goings on over the years with great interest,” Elizabeth said. “I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with so many amazing, compassionate and talented staff, faculty, parents and families who make Walker such an incredibly special place.”
