Junior Austin Westbrook has earned his 2nd consecutive State Championship!
On Tuesday, defending Champion Austin Westbrook began his battle back to the top of the 120lb. podium. During the preliminary rounds, he won three consecutive matches, pinning both his Wesleyan and Screven County opponents in the first period and then dominating his Commerce semi-final opponent, 8-2 to earn a birth in the championship on Wednesday. Not a single opponent scored an offensive point on Westbrook in five rounds of wrestling. Westbrook ended his year with a 28-1 season record and was a coaches unanimous selection to the All-County 1st Team (120 lbs). Last year's "Wrestler of the Year" for Cobb County and also 1st Team-All County, Austin has compiled an impressive high school career record of 130-13, with 15 individual tournament title wins.
