Jack Hall announces 2021-22 will be his final year as Head of School

In a letter to the Walker community, Hall, who has served as Walker’s Head of School since 2011, said “It has been, is, and will continue to be a privilege to serve this outstanding school. Our world depends on schools like Walker to develop citizens who are skilled at civil discourse, able to work collaboratively with others and understand the value added by critical, perspective-widening thinking.”

 

Glenn Shaw, Chair of Walker’s Board of Trustees, said in his letter to the Walker community: “Jack has been a strong steward of our mission and core values. Through his leadership, the culture of our school is one of joy and supportiveness – with a fully engaged community that cares about, and is dedicated, to one

another.

 

“He has created an environment that fosters the deep and genuine connection between our faculty and our students. He has led with integrity, compassion and empathy. He has led Walker through tremendous growth, including our new STEM building, expansion of our athletic facilities and our new Immersive Dyslexia Program.”

 

Hall, who also served at The Westminster Schools for 11 years and Augusta Preparatory Day School for 12 years, said that while he is not sure what his next step will be, he is looking forward to honoring the Class of 2021 and looking forward to celebrating The Walker School’s 65th Anniversary next year.

 

Shaw said by making this announcement now, the Board has ample opportunity to conduct a “thoughtful and thorough search for Walker’s next head of school.” The Board will be forming a search committee that will be assisted by an experienced and highly regarded search firm, which the Board is in the process of selecting.

 

“The Board of Trustees and I look forward to working with the entire Walker community in the months to come. I know you will join me in thanking Jack for his tireless leadership and dedication to our valued community,” Shaw said.
