Walker is pleased to announce that Shea Fleming will be joining Walker as the new Director of Diversity and Belonging in July.
"I believe Shea will be an invaluable addition to our team as we continue to uphold Walker's commitment to inclusivity and fostering a diverse and welcoming environment for all members of our community," Head of School Carl Carlson said. "I want to thank Rick Holifield for all of his efforts in this work and for everyone involved in this search."
Shea is a third-generation educator who believes in the power of the arts and equitable practices to build communities in which all members feel welcome, seen, and heard. During the past 18 years, her energy and passion have led her to opportunities to teach and learn in the United States, Ecuador and Kenya. She currently is the Assistant Director of Diversity and Inclusion at The Overlake School in Redmond, Washington. She will be responsible for leading and implementing diversity and belonging programs, providing training and professional development for our faculty and staff and supporting our students in developing a deeper understanding and appreciation for diversity. She will collaborate with fellow administrators, faculty and the parent community to build upon Walker’s culture that embraces diversity and promotes belonging at all levels of our school community.
