  • July 10-14 - Drumming Fundamentals, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 7-12)

    Register today

Geared towards MS and US students that are involved in band, but not limited to those students, this camp is meant to go through fundamentals of drumming, covering technical fundamentals as well as exercises to reinforce and develop those technical fundamentals. These ideas include, but are not limited to, proper body posture, how to hold the sticks/mallets correctly, various types of strokes and rudiments, and exercises designed to reinforce and develop these technical fundamentals and skills.

We'll be learning and practicing several exercises, so the ability to read music, specifically rhythms, is going to be important. Also students should bring their own sticks. I recommend either a full-size concert snare drum stick (Vic Firth SD1, Innovative Percussion IP-LD) or a smaller marching stick (like a Ralph Hardimon Indoor), but any sticks "larger" than 7A will be adequate.

  • July 17-21 - Crazy for Cards, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 6-8)

    Register today

Crazy for Cards is a week-long, half-day camp during which the kids will learn how to play some of the classic card games - Hearts, Rummy, Poker, etc. - as well as some that they may have never heard of before. No experience necessary! Of course, we'll learn the rules and such for each game, but we'll also talk about how and why these games work the way they do. By the end of the week, campers will know enough about these games to share them with their friends and family AND to be able to beat them, too (at least at first)! The goal is for the kids to gain a new level of understanding and appreciation for the games they already know, and to generate new excitement for the games they're playing for the first time!
