    The Primary School Summer Camp will be led by The Walker Primary School faculty and staff! This camp will be located in the Primary School on Damar Road. All rising Early Learners - Kindergarteners (ages 3-6 years-old) may enroll and non-Walker students are welcome to attend. All children must be potty trained prior to attending camp.

    Each day your child will be welcomed to the Primary School Summer Camp with a sing-a-long comprised of new and familiar songs. From there we will head to center time activities and free play that incorporate the weekly theme. Crafts, cooking, math, literacy, and both fine and gross motor activities will encompass the daily events as well.

    Families will need to provide a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack for your camper. Rest time will be provided for our rising Early Learners and those who need it. Each Monday we will incorporate a science experiment that furthers your child’s knowledge of the theme of the week. On Wednesdays, your child will participate in a cooking activity that they will enjoy during the day. On Fridays there will be water play and lots of summer fun!
     
    Camp hours: 8:00 am to 2:30 pm

    The Summer Explorers Day Camp offers a week filled with fun and adventures both on and off campus. Some off campus adventures include bowling, swimming, putt putt, farm visit, jump houses, and many more.

    Led by Lower School teachers and trained staff, campers will be guided through a wide range of enrichment opportunities and timeless traditional camp fun and games. Our campers can look forward to weekly field trips, outdoor adventures, arts & crafts, team building games, and a host of other seasonal activities. All off campus trips are subject to COVID  restrictions and weather.  We look forward to welcoming your child to our very special group of Summer Explorers!

    The Brickhouse Basketball Camp offers fundamentals to junior Wolverines. Whether you are a newcomer to the sport or an advanced level player, our camp is designed to help young basketball players develop their individual skills.
    Campers will need to dress in athletic wear including athletic shoes. No flip flops or boots. Students should bring a snack and a filled water bottle to camp every day.

    Coach Barrios will supervise the week's activities of playing a variety of games such as: Sardines, Ghost in the Graveyard, Turkey Shoot, Sharks and Minnows, etc. This camp is a long-standing tradition at The Walker School and promises to be a fun time for all who attend!

    Have you ever wanted to decorate your own Beach House?
    Campers will be given a doll house the first day of camp and will work throughout the week to design and decorate the houses. We will talk about building, designing, painting, and making decorations for the house using a wide variety of materials with an eye on our beach theme!

  • June 6-10 - MakerSpace, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 3-5)

    This camp is designed for rising 3rd - 5th grade students who want to create, tinker, explore and discover using different tools from high tech to no tech. Campers will become crafters, engineers, builders, designers and more: from magnetic toys to musical instruments, creativity and technology together! At the end of the week, we will showcase the campers' creations. Campers are encouraged to bring a water bottle and healthy snack.

  • June 6-10 - Computer Science 4 Kids, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 1-2)

Campers will explore the concepts of computational thinking using a variety of methods including age-appropriate programming language and learning about different types of robots.   • June 13-17 - Kid Cuisine Cooking, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 1-4)

    This camp won’t make kids completely self-sufficient in the kitchen, but it may lessen the number of times they call out “Mom, I’m hungry."  We will prepare foods and snacks that kids can make for themselves, or with minimal assistance.  We will practice cooking skills such as slicing and measuring and talk about why it’s important to consume nutritious foods.  We may watch a kid’s cooking show or two to dream and get inspired and of course we will eat what we create.  
    Note:  Peanut and tree nut products will not be used.  However, recipes may contain gluten and dairy.  Please advise Mrs. Wakefield of any food allergies prior to the first day of camp.

  • June 13-17 - Wolverine Softball, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 5-8)

    This camp is for rising 5th - 8th graders who are interested in developing their individual softball skills. Emphasis will be placed on fundamental skills including throwing, catching, pitching, hitting/bunting and position work. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged. We will also be celebrating National Softball Day on June 13! Campers should come prepared with a softball glove, athletic shoes (cleats), water bottle and sunscreen. If you have a softball bag equipped with bat, cleats, batting gloves, softballs, etc., please bring it with you.

  • June 13-17 - Clay - Inside and Out, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., (Grades 1-5)

    In this camp, we will make utilitarian objects for interiors and exteriors. Students will create clay objects that can be used inside and in the yard or patio. Among the pieces students will create will be a functional vase and objects to use for the kitchen and bathroom vanities. And for your garden - stepping stones and garden gnomes. Glazed pieces will be picked up 2 weeks after the camp's conclusion or at the beginning of school.

  • June 13-17 - Wolverine Cross Country Session 1, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 5-8)

    Interested in joining the cross country team or just enjoy running? Come spend the mornings with the Walker middle school cross country coaches as they prepare and train for the upcoming season. Campers will run drills, do training runs, play endurance games and run and hike some of the trails in our local area. Come prepared each day with running shoes, a water bottle, a snack and comfortable clothes. Campers will leave at the end of camp with an understanding of what cross country is an enjoyment of running.

  • June 13-17 - Painting Through Art History, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 1-5)

    In this camp, students will learn to paint using a variety of techniques and artist tricks. Students will paint in the styles of the periods of: The Renaissance, Impressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, and Expressionism (to name a few 'isms).

  • June 13-17 - Tech It Up!, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 3-5)

    Tech It Up! Programming, Electronics, Robotics and 3-D Printing
    This camp is designed for rising 3rd - 5th grade students who want to explore different technologies. They will learn how to combine programming, electronics and robotics by creating and designing robots made of electronic components and craft materials. They will also have an introduction to the art of 3D printing. Campers are encouraged to bring a filled water bottle and healthy snack.

  • June 20-24 - Atlanta Adventures, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 3-5)

    Come see the sights with Mr. Veazey! Campers will load up on a minibus and check out a number of the highlights of the metro Atlanta area. Each day of the week will bring a new adventure or two. Campers should wear comfortable shoes meant for walking while also bringing a lunch and a water bottle. Some locally-sourced snacks will be provided as part of the experience. We look forward to filling up our local passports together!
    I cannot take any half-day registrants as we will not be returning until the end of the day.

  • June 20-24 - FUNdamentals of Tennis, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 2-5)

    All Skill Levels Welcome
    Under the guidance of Coach Wakefield, campers will learn to love the game of tennis as they work on basic strokes, footwork and scoring. Warm-ups, conditioning, drills, fun games and competition will be used to strengthen players' knowledge and skills relating to the game of tennis. They will gain confidence and improve eye-hand coordination. 
    Please note that campers need to wear athletic clothing, tennis shoes, sunscreen, and cap or visor as well as bring a tennis racquet, water bottle, and towel.

They will learn to program robots and to create art and perform different challenges.   • June 20-24 - Fishing at the Farm, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 5-8)

    Students will load up at Walker and take a 10-minute bus ride to a local 50-acre farm adjacent to Kennesaw National Park. While there we will fish for bass and bream in the two ponds, hike a bit, and enjoy being unplugged outside. No experience necessary and all bait provided! Flyfisher folk welcome, as well. We will go over the basics (including safety) and kids will be spending the entire time outdoors. Please bring rods, water bottle, snacks, and sunscreen. Please wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Use of the 'facili-trees' is encouraged but indoor restrooms are also available.

  • June 20-24 - Girly Girl Crafts, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 3-5)

    You need not be a Girly Girl to attend this camp! Girls will have fun making craft projects, hanging out with old friends and making new ones. We'll make jewelry, origami, add glam to plain items, make fun journals to chronicle our activities, and more in a fun and upbeat environment. All materials are included, but campers are free to bring additional items to further personalize their objects. Campers will keep all the items they make and snacks will be provided daily.

  • June 27-July 1 - Chill Skills, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 3-5)

    This camp is designed for rising third-fifth graders who want to take some time and pause. The students are going to participate in a variety of mindfulness activities such as creating glitter jars, going on listening walks, doing some yoga and and learning some cool breathing exercises....just to name a few! We hope these camp days will be spent feeling re-centered, and the students will leave each day with a new idea or craft to motivate them to take the time to chill and de-stress.

  • June 27-July 1 - Calling All Rock Hounds!, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 3-5)

    Interested in rocks, gems and minerals? Say no more! Join us for an exciting week of exploration, collecting, science, art and more. We will pan for gems, crack open geodes, take a rock walk or two and then learn how to identify our finds. Campers will use their kitchen skills to make rock candy, their creativity to paint kindness rocks, and their science skills to grown their own crystals and geodes.....just to name a few.  A large collection of specimens from around the world will be on campus for hands-on investigation. Every camper will go home with everything they need to start or add to an amazing rock collection! We will be playing in the dirt so be sure to plan accordingly. Sound like fun? Of Quartz it does!

    The Wolverine Girls Basketball Camp will help players of all abilities develop athletically, refine their basketball knowledge and enhance their skill set at the post, wing and guard positions. We will emphasize fundamentals, shooting techniques and positional play using games, drills and competitions.     A skills-based camp aimed at teaching the basics of football and having fun! We will all run, throw, and catch the ball - and work on our end zone celebrations! Campers will receive an introduction to the game of football while working on skills that will help them in any sporting event.

GRL PWR is designed as a counseling group and will be led by Kristin Moffett, Lower School counselor. The camp sessions will be filled with creative projects and introspective activities geared towards unveiling and celebrating the uniqueness of each student. By the end of the week, we hope to have created long-lasting friendships and memories through games and problem-solving puzzles where each student can use her strengths to work together as a team.     This is a beginner class for those who have never knit before or those needing a refresher. Over the course of the week, students will learn the basics of knitting; how to knit, purl, cast-on, bind-off, and weave-in loose ends. These skills will be applied to making a set of hand-warmers, a hat, and we will probably have time to make a scarf, too!  Sign-up to learn in a fun, friendly, casual environment. This skill will last you a lifetime and is a wonderful way to make your own accessories and clothes or to make gifts for your family and loved ones. Supplies are provided by the camp.

  • July 11-15 - Wolverine Girls 2nd-4th Grade Volleyball, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 2-4)

  • July 11-15 - Ceramics and Printmaking, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 5-8)

    This camp is for students interested in 2D and 3D art. We will learn how to create several linoleum woodcut style printing blocks and pull prints from them. Students will explore how to create multi-color prints using several different blocks. We will also learn how to quickly create functional ceramic objects such as mugs, vases and plates, learn decorating techniques for those pieces and (hopefully) introduce working on the pottery wheel! You do not need to have experience in either of these disciplines; there is something for everyone!

    Sometimes you just need a little down time! This laid back camp will have campers moving from reading books of their choice, a themed read, or some oldies but goodies, to playing board and card games, to completing or solving various levels of puzzles. Campers will have the option to play and read independently or to join in with other campers. Snacks and down time will be enjoyed by all.

  • July 25-29 - Wolverine LS Co-ed Soccer, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 1-5)

    This camp provides an exciting and fun space for kids to develop their soccer skills. All skill levels are welcome! Campers will work on basic footwork skills through drills and games. They will also develop an understanding of the fundamentals and general strategies of the game. The overall emphasis will be on having fun while learning/expanding skills within the framework of instruction and games under the leadership of Coach Julio Barrios.
    This soccer camp is for all levels, and no experience is needed.
    Campers need to dress in athletic wear, tennis shoes, and bring a filled water bottle and a healthy snack.

  • Aug. 1-3 - Wolverine Cheer Camp, 9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Grades PK3-5)

    Note: This is a 3 day camp.
    Cheer Camp, a Walker summer-time favorite, provides instruction in areas such as dance, cheers, chants, jumps, and stunting for students from Early Learners (PK3) to 5th grade. Campers will participate in a special half-time performance at one of the varsity home football games.

    Elementary-aged learners will embark on an academic voyage to hone their skills and discover new talents. Guided by Orton-Gillingham trained teachers from the New Avenues Dyslexia Program, The Walker School, and Marietta City Schools, students will receive systematic, multisensory, and prescriptive instruction in reading and math, and language (oral and written). Reading and spelling instruction will occur daily in a one-on-one Orton-Gillingham lesson designed to meet the learners’ individual needs. Small group (6 students) math instruction will utilize multisensory math instruction focused on a concrete to abstract approach, allowing students to develop strong foundational understandings and strategies applicable to any math curriculum. Language instruction will allow students to explore weekly themes while developing oral and written language skills. Students will participate in listening, following directions, and writing activities. Learners will develop social language and make new friends as they interact with their peers in the classroom and on the playground. All elements of the day will nurture participants in sharpening their skills, building self-confidence, and preparing for future academic voyages.

    The Brickhouse Basketball Camp offers fundamentals to junior Wolverines. Whether you are a newcomer to the sport or an advanced level player, our camp is designed to help young basketball players develop their individual skills.
    Campers will need to dress in athletic wear including athletic shoes. No flip flops or boots. Students should bring a snack and a filled water bottle to camp every day.

    This camp is for rising 5th - 8th graders who are interested in developing their individual softball skills. Emphasis will be placed on fundamental skills including throwing, catching, pitching, hitting/bunting and position work. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged. We will also be celebrating National Softball Day on June 13! Campers should come prepared with a softball glove, athletic shoes (cleats), water bottle and sunscreen. Campers will run drills, do training runs, play endurance games and run and hike some of the trails in our local area. Campers will work with fabric, lights, and Lily Tiny electronic boards to build a glowing bracelet, a bookmark that light up and other fun e-textile projects which are fabrics with embedded electronics.     In Baking Through Books, you will get to explore literature by taking a close look at the food and recipes found at the heart of both nonfiction and fiction books. Each day, you will get to read a passage, complete a correlating activity, and bake something inspired by the text.   • June 20-24 - Fishing at the Farm, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Grades 5-8)

    Students will load up at Walker and take a 10-minute bus ride to a local 50-acre farm adjacent to Kennesaw National Park. While there we will fish for bass and bream in the two ponds, hike a bit, and enjoy being unplugged outside. No experience necessary and all bait provided! Flyfisher folk welcome, as well. We will go over the basics (including safety) and kids will be spending the entire time outdoors. Please bring rods, water bottle, snacks, and sunscreen. Please wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Use of the 'facili-trees' is encouraged but indoor restrooms are also available.

  • June 20-24 - Crazy for Cards, 1 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Grades 6-8)

    Crazy for Cards is a week-long, half-day camp during which the kids will learn how to play some of the classic card games - Hearts, Rummy, Poker, etc. - as well as some that they may have never heard of before. No experience necessary! Of course, we'll learn the rules and such for each game, but we'll also talk about how and why these games work the way they do. By the end of the week, campers will know enough about these games to share them with their friends and family AND to be able to beat them, too (at least at first)! The goal is for the kids to gain a new level of understanding and appreciation for the games they already know, and to generate new excitement for the games they're playing for the first time!

    This is a beginner class for those who have never knit before or those needing a refresher. Over the course of the week, students will learn the basics of knitting; how to knit, purl, cast-on, bind-off, and weave-in loose ends. These skills will be applied to making a set of hand-warmers, a hat, and we will probably have time to make a scarf, too!  Sign-up to learn in a fun, friendly, casual environment.   • July 11-15 - Ceramics and Printmaking, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Grades 5-8)

    This camp is for students interested in 2D and 3D art. We will learn how to create several linoleum woodcut style printing blocks and pull prints from them. Students will explore how to create multi-color prints using several different blocks. We will also learn how to quickly create functional ceramic objects such as mugs, vases and plates, learn decorating techniques for those pieces and (hopefully) introduce working on the pottery wheel! You do not need to have experience in either of these disciplines; there is something for everyone!

    Emphasis will be placed on utilizing teacher blogs, communicating with instructors, study strategies, note taking, time management, and developing personal organization. Campers will also have a Q and A session with former 6th graders so they can learn about the secrets to success in 6th grade!

    This class is designed for rising 9th and 10th grade students who have successfully completed Alegebra I and have a desire to take Honors Algebra II or Algebra II during the 2022-23 school year. 
    This course covers the traditional topics of Euclidean geometry and introduces the formal study of logic and proof. Basic terminology, congruence, similarity, measurement and transformations of plane and solid figures, reasoning and proof, and simple trigonometry and studied.  A review of Algebra I skills is interwoven throughout the curriculum.

  • Health and Safety Guidelines

    • Masks will be optional for all campers and camp leaders.
    • Campers or camp leaders who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive for COVID-19 should notify the school at walkernurse@thewalkerschool.org immediately and should not come to campus. 
    • Contact tracing will be performed if a camper or camp leader tests positive for COVID-19. Close contacts will be notified of their exposure. 
    • Campers who are close contacts are welcome to come to camp, regardless of vaccination status, unless they are exhibiting the signs and symptoms of COVID. For individuals who are close contacts, masks are recommended but not required.
    • The COVID Support Team will discuss isolation protocol with any COVID-positive campers or camp leaders.
    • For students who are using school-provided transportation during camp, masks are not required and capacity is not limited.
  • Registration Deadline

    With a few exceptions, most camps which attain minimum enrollment by May 1 will remain open until two weeks before the camp starts. A limited number of camps may close 3 weeks before the start date in order to allow for enough time for special supplies to be ordered. Check the registration website for details about individual camps.
  • Minimum Enrollment Deadline

    Camps which have not met their minimum by May 1st will be canceled.  You will be offered the opportunity to transfer registration to another camp, or cancel for a full refund.
  • Refund and Cancellation Policy

    The Walker School reserves the right to cancel any portion of a summer program in case of unforeseen circumstances. Refunds will be issued. No refunds will be given for missed days during a session period. To meet planning needs, after the May 1 deadline, no refunds will be given for withdrawals from a camp or workshop unless there are documented extenuating circumstances. However, if your plans change, you may transfer your student from one camp to another up to two weeks prior to the first day of camp. Please contact the Summer Programs Director with any schedule changes.
  • Late Fee

    A late fee of $1 per minute will be charged if parents do not arrive by the appointed pick-up time following any camp session.  Should you find yourself running late, please contact the After Camp Experience Leader and your child's day camp leader.
  • Extended Hours Care

    Early Bird Drop Off, Lunch Bunch, and ACE (After Camp Experience) are all staffed by Walker School employees.

    Early Bird Drop Off

    Early drop off care is offered on a weekly basis and can be purchased as an add-on to any morning camp session for rising grades 1-8 offered from June 6-July 29. Unless otherwise noted, the central location for Early Bird Drop-off will be the Middle School Carpool Circle. Fun safe activities will be supervised, and students will be allowed to enjoy a morning snack brought from home. Children may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. Staff will accompany campers to their first camp or class. The weekly fee for Early Bird Drop Off is $35.

    Lunch Bunch

    A supervised lunch and recess is also offered on a weekly basis and can be purchased as an add-on to any morning or afternoon camp. Campers need to bring a bagged lunch from home. Lunch Bunch is included for all of those campers who attend full day camps. Lunch Bunch will cost $25 per week for those only attending one session (AM or PM).

    ACE (After Camp Experience)

    Our After Camp Experience option for rising 1st - 8th grade students will be available to all of our afternoon and full day campers. After Camp Experience participants engage in a variety of fun activities such as arts and crafts, supervised playground time, games, and more until 6 p.m. The weekly fee for the After Camp Experience is $40.
  • Extended Care/Drop In Policy

    Early Bird Drop Off, Lunch Bunch, and After Camp Care are offered as additional options for one-week camp sessions and cannot accommodate single or drop-in days. It is best to register for Early Bird Drop Off or After Care when registering for camp as spaces often fill up.
