2020 Summer Programs

Over 500 campers agree - Walker Summer Programs are the best way to spend your summer! We offer an extensive and diverse selection of academic, athletic, STEM, and artistic opportunities for 3-18 year olds in the metro Atlanta community. Campers can choose from over 85 morning, afternoon, or all day camps, which are held on our campus in Marietta, conveniently located minutes off of I-75.

We have a newer, cleaner, and more convenient registration platform this year. If you have a Walker Web account click “Register Today” and look for the Walker Web sign-in button at the bottom of the page.

    The Primary School Summer Camp will be led by Walker Primary School faculty and staff! This camp will be located in the Primary School on Damar Road. All rising Early Learners - Kindergarteners (ages 3-6 years-old) may enroll and non-Walker students are welcome to attend. All children must be potty trained prior to attending camp.
    Each day your child will be welcomed to the Primary School Summer Camp with a sing-a-long comprised of new and familiar songs. From there we will head to center time activities and free play that incorporate the weekly theme. Crafts, cooking, math, literacy, and both fine and gross motor activities will encompass the daily events as well.
    Families will need to provide a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack for your camper. Rest time will be provided for our rising Early Learners and those who need it. Each Monday we will incorporate a science experiment that furthers your child’s knowledge of the theme of the week. On Wednesdays, your child will participate in a cooking activity that they will enjoy during the day. On Fridays there will be water play and lots of summer fun!
    Camp hours: 8:00 am to 2:30pm 
    Camp fee includes early drop off (7am) and after care (until 6:00pm), should you need it.

    This camp provides an exciting and fun space for kids to develop their soccer skills. All skill levels are welcome! Campers will work on basic footwork skills through drills and games! They will also develop an understanding of the fundamentals and general strategy of the game. The overall emphasis will be on having fun while learning/expanding the skills within the framework of instruction and games under the leadership of Coach Katie Keleman.
     
    This soccer camp is for all levels, and no experience is needed.
     
    Campers need to dress in athletic wear, tennis shoes, and bring a filled water bottle and a healthy snack. Camp fee includes T-shirt and instruction.

    Beginning/Intermediate Dance Grades: rising 4th - rising 8th

    Description: This camp is designed for students who have 2 years of dance studio training/experience. Dancers will focus on ballet, jazz/hip-hop, and contemporary styles of dance. Each class will start with a ballet barre, continue with core strength and flexibility exercises using jazz/hip hop combinations, and learn expression of movement though contemporary dance. On the last day of camp dancers will perform 2 - 3 dance pieces for guests.
    Attire for girls: Black leotard, pink or black convertible tights/ black leggings or short dance skirts are okay, ballet and/or jazz shoes.
    Attire for boys: White or black t-shirt, black boy's dance tights, ballet and/or jazz shoes.

Campers will be introduced to organization systems and study strategies to assist with the transition to middle school.
    Emphasis will be placed on utilizing teacher blogs, communicating with instructors, study strategies, note taking, time management, and developing personal organization.

    Wondering what to expect in 9th grade? Want to be prepared on day 1? Escape the stress of the unknown and join our Freshman Experience camp. Take a peek at the daily life of a Freshman in Walker's Upper School. Learn how to balance the demands of high school and plan so that you have time for academics and extracurricular activities. Get a feel for 9th grade course work and learn tips and tricks for tackling them with a set of skills tailored to you. Dive into your summer reading assignments and learn how to make the most of your effort. The week culminates with a Freshman Escape Room on campus.

    Lower School Cheer Camp, a Walker summer-time favorite, provides instruction in areas such as dance, cheers, chants, jumps, and stunting. Campers will participate in a special half-time performance at one of the varsity home football games.

    All Band and Drumline camps are combined into one super-charged, amazing and FUN camp! It is recommended that ANYONE who is planning on being involved in ANY of the bands this year at Walker sign up for this camp. And did we mention that it will be FUN?! Camp students will be under the artistic guidance of the Walker music faculty in addition to some of the finest professionals in the area. The Walker Band Camp has gained a reputation for the quality of performance achieved within just three days of rehearsals! The camp will culminate in a mini-concert presented to faculty, staff, friends and family. You can’t miss out on the FUN!
    Note: 8th grade students accepted by invitation or audition only. Camp fee includes materials, clinicians, T-shirts, lunch, and instruction.

    Atlanta Falcons Youth Flag Football Camp

    The Atlanta Falcons Summer Camps offer young players the unique opportunity to learn new skills through the official Atlanta Falcons flag football curriculum and get closer to the team they love! This one-week experience offers four days of flag instruction and training unique to the Atlanta Falcons for players of all ability and a one-day visit to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to meet an alumni Falcons player. Join us for nonstop flag football fun with an emphasis on teamwork, attitude, and healthy competition.

    Our Camps are designed for boys and girls ages 5-13. Players are grouped on teams that teach age appropriate skills and offer the right level of competition.

    Camp Highlights ($495):

    • Four days of flag football instruction and competition in our Atlanta Falcons developed curriculum. Each camp day is from 9:00am – 3:00pm.

    Atlanta Falcons Summer Camps believe that camp should be fun for parents too! For that reason, we offer flexible scheduling options to make your experience as easy as possible.

    AM Extended Day: Offered from 7:30-9:00am
    PM Extended Day: Offered from 3:00-6:00pm
    Extended Day can be purchased as a bundle (AM & PM) or individually. To purchase extended day, simply select the option in the enrollment process. Please note: extended hours are a convenient option and not a continuation of camp curriculum.

    Galaxy Adventure Quest June 1- June 5
    (Inspired by Star Wars Jedi Training)
    Boys and Girls Galaxy Adventure Quest is now recruiting young galactic space campers! In this fun filled adventure training camp, young recruits will learn saber skills and create history as warriors that always save the day.     Ninja Camp June 22- June 26
    Attention: Calling all Ninjas! join your Ninja Clan and Sensei Will into a journey through ancient Ninja secrets. Each Ninja will learn the art of Karate and acquire the necessary skills to become the ultimate Ninja warrior. Campers will engage in fun team building challenges, scavenger hunts, and few new surprises like laser tag. Don’t miss out on the fun, the Ninja camp is the place for you.
     
    Virtual Realm: Imagination Camp July 13- July 17
    (Inspired by Minecraft)
    This camp is designed to explore the creative engineer inside all campers. Kids will be encouraged to create a world inspired by their imaginations. Kids will learn how to utilize common day resources such as trees, soil, bricks, and even fancy gems to create the very things that surround us in the real world. The best part of the club is that campers will be surrounded by other creative minds and learn to build their very own virtual utopia.     Karate Camp July 20- July 24
    We welcome students of all ages to join us as we develop lifelong skills utilizing the art of Karate. Karate Kids emphasizes on the building of individual strengths, technical skills, and above all, character. Karate students will also work on improving balance and coordination along with speed and agility. If you are looking for something fun and exciting, Karate Kids is for you.

    *Must be a rising 2nd - 4th grader*

    Elementary-aged learners will embark on an academic voyage to hone their skills and discover new talents. Guided by Orton-Gillingham trained teachers from Marietta City Schools and New Avenues Dyslexia Program at The Walker School, learners will receive systematic, multi-sensory, and prescriptive instruction in reading, math, and written language. Reading and spelling instruction will occur daily in a one-on-one setting designed to meet the learners’ individual needs. Small group (6 students) math instruction will utilize a concrete to abstract approach to allow students to develop strong foundational understandings as well as strategies that can be applied to any math curriculum. Written language instruction will explicitly teach the writing process to allow students to sharpen their skills and prepare for future academic voyages. Learners will develop social language and make new friends as they interact with their peers both in the classroom and on the playground.

  • Registration Deadline

    Registration Deadline:  With a few exceptions, most camps which attain minimum enrollment by May 1 will remain open until two weeks before the camp starts. A limited number of camps may close 3 weeks before the start date in order to allow for enough time for special supplies to be ordered. Check the registration website for details about individual camps. If you wish to register for a camp less than two weeks prior to the camp start, a late registration fee will be applied of $100 per full-day week of camp, or $50 per half-day camp per week. Please contact the camp leader and/or the Summer Programs Director for further information in this event.
  • Minimum Enrollment Deadline

    Minimum Enrollment Deadline: Camps which have not met their minimum by May 1st will be canceled.  You will be offered the opportunity to transfer registration to another camp, or cancel for a full refund.
  • Refund and Cancellation Policy

    Refund and Cancellation Policy:  The Walker School reserves the right to cancel any portion of a summer program in case of unforeseen circumstances. Refunds will be issued. No refunds will be given for missed days during a session period. To meet planning needs, after the May 1 deadline, no refunds will be given for withdrawals from a camp or workshop unless there are documented extenuating circumstances. However, if your plans change, you may transfer your student from one camp to another up to two weeks prior to the first day of camp. Please contact the Summer Programs Director with any schedule changes.
  • Late Fee

    Late Fee: A late fee of $1 per minute will be charged if parents do not arrive by the appointed pick-up time following any camp session.  Should you find yourself running late, please contact the After Camp Experience Leader and your child's day camp leader.
  • Extended Hours Care

    Early Bird Drop Off, Lunch Bunch, and ACE (After Camp Experience) are all staffed by Walker School employees.

    Early Bird Drop Off

    Early drop off care is offered on a weekly basis and can be purchased as an add-on to any morning camp session for rising grades 1-8 offered from June 1 – July 24. Unless otherwise noted, the central location for Early Bird Drop-off will be Gatti Hall in the Lower School Carpool Circle. Fun safe activities will be supervised, and students will be allowed to enjoy a morning snack brought from home. Children may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. Staff will accompany campers to their first camp or class. The weekly fee for Early Bird Drop Off is $35.

    Lunch Bunch

    A supervised lunch and recess is also offered on a weekly basis and can be purchased as an add-on to any morning or afternoon camp. Campers need to bring a bagged lunch from home. Lunch Bunch is included for all of those campers who attend morning and afternoon sessions. Lunch Bunch will cost $25 per week for those only attending one session (AM or PM).

    ACE (After Camp Experience)

    Our After Camp Experience option for rising 1st - 8th grade students will be available to all of our afternoon and full day campers. After Camp Experience participants will be escorted to the Primary School where they will sign in at 4:15 p.m. and participate in a variety of fun activities such as arts and crafts, supervised playground time, games, and more until 6 p.m. The weekly fee for the After Camp Experience is $50.
  • Extended Care/Drop In Policy

    Extended Care/Drop In Policy: Early Bird Drop Off, Lunch Bunch, and After Camp Care are offered as additional options for one-week camp sessions and cannot accommodate single or drop-in days. It is best to register for Early Bird Drop Off or After Care when registering for camp as spaces often fill up.
