What is your favorite memory at Walker and why? Or what do you like most about Walker?
I have a bunch of good memories from my time at Walker, but one of my favorites was breaking a few records at the county swim meet. Shanzeh Sheikh (2019), Lili Walker, Etta Rockman, and I broke the girls 200 freestyle record, and it was so much fun celebrating after that awesome swim. I also broke the girls 50 freestyle record twice at that same county meet, and it is really exciting to have a lasting legacy at Walker (or at least until someone new breaks the records)!
What's your perfect pre-game meal and what's on your pre-game playlist?
My pre-game meal has two parts: my dinner the night before and what I actually eat the day of the meet. Typically, the night before, I like to have chicken, pesto pasta (my favorite is tortellini), and broccoli or green beans. Then, the day of the meet, I'm usually not very hungry, but I at least try to eat some eggs or a banana so I have something in my system. I also drink lots and lots of water to make sure I'm hydrated! My swim meet playlist is full of fast, energetic, and up-beat songs. I am a sprinter, so listening to fast and upbeat music before my race really pumps me up and prepares me for my races. It also helps to have fast and energetic songs in my head to replay while racing. Two of the songs that I have listened to before every meet since I started year-round swimming are "All I Do is Win" by DJ Khaled and the theme song for the Rocky movies - and I still listen to these songs to this day.
What do you enjoy doing on your day off?
I swim pretty much every day of the week except for Sundays, which are my days off. However, even though I don't have practice, I am normally at the pool coaching younger swimmers, which is one of my favorite things to do. I also really enjoy spending time with my family and reading books for fun. Some other things I like to do are sleep in, go on walks with my dog, and watch movies. Prior to COVID, I also liked to hangout, go shopping, and go to lunch with friends.
