State Science Fair
Joseph Illingsworth (6th grade), Hunter Mitchell (7th grade) and Kevin Flansburg (7th grade) competed at the 57th Georgia State Engineering and Science Fair in Athens, Georgia over the weekend. With 245 projects in the junior division all of our students placed in the overall competition and won several special category awards.
Hunter Mitchell brought home a third place ribbon in the competetion as well a first place in the special awards category from the American Water Works Association - Georgia Section for his project "Does Distance in Distribution Affect the Chlorine in Tap Water?"
Joseph Illingsworth place second in the overall competition and won a special award from the Society of Automotive Engineers - Atlanta Section as well as the US Navy and Marine Corp Award for his project "Are you Battery Smart? Choosing the Most Economic AA Battery to Use."
Kevin Flansburg won first place in the overall competition and won the UGA Physics and Astronomy Department Award. He was also selected to participate in the Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge Award Competition for his continuation of last year's project "An Investigation of Battery Life for Different Technology Batteries, Part II."
