Brad Koster, Class of 1996, continues to Inspire...
In July, 2001, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Koster, and The Walker School community lost a son and a friend. After several months of battling a rare form of cancer, now known as "Brad's tumor," Brad lost his fight with the disease. In his honor and loving memory, Brad's family, friends and Walker's Class of 1996, formed the Koster Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The Walker School Board of Trustees inspired by Brad's courageous battle with cancer began the Annual Koster 5K Classic to raise awareness and funds for the Koster Memorial Scholarship Fund. The event includes a 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Fun for children. The first race held in April 2002 raised funds for the scholarship that assisted 5 Walker families. In 2004-2005, the Koster Scholarship Fund provided 16 families additional financial assistance totaling over $40,000.
The Koster 5K Classic was cancelled due to inclement weather. Race T-shirts and packets may be picked up in the Development Office Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Brad left his friends and family with the message to value our relationships with family and friends. Seize the Day!! Come join us at the race to celebrate life and relationships with our families and the Walker community.
