GREASE!
GREASE!, the Upper School’s first musical in 15 years, captures the look and sound of the 1950s with rollicking music that salutes the rock 'n' roll era. The plot concerns Danny Zuko, a member of the "Burger Palace Boys", a greaser gang, at mythical Rydell High, and Sandy Dumbrowski, a sweet innocent who has just transferred there from the cloistered confines of Immaculata High. While the lovebirds resolve the problems of their mutual attraction for each other, the gang sings and dances its way through such nostalgic scenes as the pajama party, the prom, and the drive-in movie.
Under the direction and of drama teacher Katie Watts and the vocal direction of chorus teacher John Richardson, the all student cast will danced and sang all the GREASE! favorites including “Greased Lightning”, “Summer Nights”, “Born to Hand Jive” and “Look At Me I’m Sandra Dee.” The show had a live 50’s rock band made up of Walker students and faculty and was directed by Mike Gerace, chair of the Fine Arts department.
After eight performances and over 1600 tickets sold, the show has been a memorable part of the 2004 - 2005 school year.
