Lower School
Extended Day Program (EDP)
Registration Form (new form for 2008-09)
EDP is Walker’s after school program for grades 1-5. It offers safety and supervision for the students who attend and peace of mind for their parents. This program is licensed each year by the State of Georgia ,and it is staffed with a director and assistant. Between the hours of 2:50 and 6:00 p.m. the students have opportunity to play on the playground (weather permitting), work on homework, enjoy a snack, and play games or do a craft. The students have an opportunity to go to the computer lab each week where they have a choice of selected activities in which to participate. There are times when it is possible to arrange for the students attend some of the athletic or other events held on campus.
The after school program also provides a safety net for any student who is not picked up by the end of carpool at 3:10 p.m. or after an extracurricular activity. These students are taken to EDP. Parents do not have to be concerned about the safety and well being of their child until the 6:00 p.m. closing time. In such circumstances, we suggest that a parent call the school or the EDP office in order to allay the child’s concerns about the parent. Children worry about their parents whenever the situation is out of the norm.
While the EDP program is available every day that school is in session for a full day, parents may select from a number of attendance options. The details, including the options and costs, can be found in the Lower School Student Handbook on this website.
