What to expect when you come to the Lower School

We asked one of our newer Lower School parents to tell us something about how he felt when they first came to Walker. Here is what he said...

he search was on! Since we were new to Atlanta area school systems, we didn't have the benefit of growing up in the community. We found that the procedures here were a lot different than what we were accustomed to. The idea of interviewing a 4 year old for school was very foreign to us and having to do this at multiple locations to have a 'back-up" was a daunting idea. We had no idea which school would be a perfect fit for our children. Our research included news articles, computer searches, opinions from newly found friends, and a lot of open houses. We were looking for more than bricks and mortar with a reputation.

Why The Walker School?

In hindsight, the decision to choose The Walker School was actually very easy. After a number of tours, we basically heard the same routine so it seemed impossible to differentiate the schools based on their academic merits alone. The Walker experience however was very different. For us, it actually started the minute we walked through the doors. There was an immediate sense that we found the environment we were looking for. The comfort level and the peace of mind we felt there were overwhelming. From the tour of The Walker School, to Don's (Don Robertson, Headmaster) riveting open house speech, and then to the hand-holding through the "interview" process, it was now apparent who our first choice was.

Why Stay at The Walker School?

From that very first day until now, and three children later, we continue to feel at home at the Walker School. Even though there are other alternatives that are more convenient to our home and softer on our budget, we are extremely confident that we made the right choice for our children. Their outstanding educational format, integrity, and committment to learning is second to none. We know that they will be well rounded, athletic, and immersed with love, as well as receiving the tools and the education to realize their dreams (well, maybe our dreams too!). We could not have found a more supportive, passionate, caring group of people who have truly become a part of our family. The Walker School is definitely ahead of the pack.

GO WOLVERINES!
