The Booster Club

The Walker Booster Club’s objective is to foster and promote interest in all areas of athletic and related activity at the Walker School by providing time and support to the Athletic Department. The Booster Club’s prime concern is the best interest, welfare, and development of the students who participate in, or associated with, school athletic activities.

Parental participation, both personal and financial, is the key to our success. A booster club in its most basic form is people. Participation as a fan, fundraiser, or volunteer helps the school and the children so very much. At Walker, most students participate in at least one varsity or sub-varsity team during the year.

We need you! Parents of Walker athletes staff the concession and ticket gates during their child’s sport season. Middle and Lower School parents also help, especially during football games, so that Upper School parents can watch their children’s games. Volunteers provide labor for other game-related activities such as field preparation, scorekeeping, and announcing.

In addition to concessions and ticket sales, we have several fund-raising events and activities during the year. They include the Tennis Tournament on Monday, September 27, the Golf Tournament on Monday, October 17, and the annual Christmas Tree Sale. Also, please stop by the Wolverine Warehouse to purchase Walker Wear. Another easy way to contribute is by using Publix and Kroger grocery cards. These stores donate a portion of the money you spend at their stores to Walker. For online shoppers, consider Schoolpop.Com that acts the same way as the grocery cards. These retailers are a significant addition to our assets and we greatly appreciate their donations.

Money earned from these activities fund the Athletic Department’s “Wish List” for items beyond the school’s operating budget. Coaches submit requests to the Athletic Director who reviews and prioritizes them for Booster Club consideration. Recently purchased items include weight room flooring, championship banners, roll away soccer goals, practice field goalposts, stadium scoreboard, the press box, a football/soccer stadium sound system, another sound system for the baseball & softball fields, portable hydration systems, a portable defibrillator, and ultrasound equipment and a treatment table for our school’s trainer. We also make major pledges to fund capital campaigns and future capital improvements.

Being a part of our children’s athletic experience at Walker is a fun and gratifying experience.

CATCH THE WOLVERINE SPIRIT!
