The Walker School admits motivated, average to superior, college bound students with no conduct or absentee problems. The Admission process identifies students in PK-12 who demonstrate motivation and the ability to fulfill The Walker School's academic requirements. In reviewing applications, the Admission Committee considers academic performance, standardized test results, teacher evaluation, individual characteristics and talents. Applicants are considered for admission based on a variety of factors which include test scores, transcripts and evaluations from teachers.
The Walker School admits students of any race, color and national origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color or national origin in the administration of its educational policies, scholarship and financial aid programs, or athletic and other school-administered programs.

- Complete the application and submit to the Admission Office with the $75 non-refundable application fee. Please indicate the observation and interview dates that you prefer.
- Give the confidential teacher evaluation to your current school at the beginning of January. You may wish to include an envelope with the address to The Walker School's Admission Office. The school will send those forms directly to us.
- Have your pediatrician send a current immunization form.
- Supporting documents (number 2 and 3 above) must be received by February 27th.
- We wish to make the admission process as stress free as possible for children entering Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten. We recommend that you bring your child for a brief visit to the school prior to the observation/interview days. In an effort to accommodate each of you, we have set aside specific days, starting in January, and times for a ten minute mini-tour to familiarize your child with our Preschool. The mini-tours will be conducted by student guides, the Director of Admission, or the Preschool Principal. If you wish to make an appointment for a visit, please contact the admission office at 678-581-6891.

SSAT Web Site - Secondary School Admission Test
- Complete the application (.pdf file) and submit to the Admission Office with the $75 non-refundable application fee. Please indicate which SSAT date or Walker test date that you are requesting.
- Sign up with SSAT for admission testing. You may do that by email at mail@ssat.org, on line at www.ssat.org, or by phone at 609-683-4440. You may also submit the application by mail.
- At the end of the second quarter/1st semester, give the selected school the three confidential teacher evaluations, the Principal/Director Evaluation and transcript request forms. You may wish to include envelopes addressed to The Walker School's Admission Office. The forms will be sent directly to us.
- Call Blair Fisher, Middle School Principal at 678-581-6901 or Bob Murphy, Upper School Principal at 678-581-6900 for a student interview. If your child is shadowing, we will do the interview while they are here.
- We have a shadowing program for students entering grade 6-12. If your student would like to visit the school for a morning and shadow one of our students from 8:00-11:00 a.m., please contact the Admission Office at 678-581-6891. At that time, we may interview the student. Shadowing CANNOT be done after acceptance letters are sent, so please be sure to arrange a shadow date BEFORE April 4, 2008.

Conditions and Terms of Admission

- Decisions of the Admission Committee will be in writing and mailed on April 4, 2008.
- Walker's acceptance of any student is contingent upon the successful completion of the applicant's current grade.
- Students are admitted on a yearly basis. At the conclusion of the first semester, all students who are in good standing both academically and socially will be invited to re-enroll for the following school year. Any decisions to offer re-enrollment to students who are not in good standing with the School academically or socially will be deferred until the end of the school year.
- In large measure, the student's success and happiness in the school environment depends on positive parental support of school policies. Your cooperation and support are necessary and expected.
- The Walker School reserves the right to determine placement of the applicant in the grade level and section judged most appropriate by the Admission Committee.
- The admission process is not complete until an Enrollment contract is signed and returned with a NON-REFUNDABLE tuition deposit of $1000 which is applied toward the tuition.
- For students entering grades 1-12, it is the parent's responsibility to furnish the school with a final transcript. We will send you the transcript request form in late May.
