we believe that, for young people, school is much more than just a place of study -- it’s also an important community where they will develop self-image and self-esteem, set goals, and cultivate talents. The encouragement and opportunities students encounter here will have a powerful impact on their futures.
Our students flourish in an atmosphere where they are encouraged to work effectively in groups as well as to recognize their own worth and talents as individuals.
We seek to provide an environment of warmth, challenge, and support for all of our students, whether they are kindergartners watching the mysteries of the world unfold, Middle Schoolers making exciting discoveries, or seniors making important choices about their futures.
The Walker School is unique; we provide an atmosphere conducive to learning in a stimulating yet nurturing environment. Our students have all the benefits of accelerated learning without the pressures that often accompany it. Here students may reach their fullest potentials, while developing a confidence and love of learning that will endure throughout their lives.
Because our school combines traditional standards of academic rigor and discipline with modern approaches to learning, our students gain the skills that success requires and the flexibility that change demands. The school promotes enjoyment of learning and problem-solving so that students respond enthusiastically to challenge. Walker students excel both inside and outside the classroom.
For over four decades, our faculty and students have shared a relationship of warmth, energy, joy, commitment, and risk-taking. We encourage students and faculty alike to think, grow, contribute, and achieve. Walker’s mission is to prepare young people for college and life by offering a caring and challenging environment in which academic achievement, personal responsibility, and individual creativity are prized.
Non-Discriminatory Policy
Applicants to the Walker School are considered for admission based on a variety of factors which include test scores, transcripts and evaluations from teachers.

It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color or national origin in the administration of its educational policies, scholarship and financial aid programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
