Mark your calendars. This year's Groovin' on the Green is Saturday, May 6! Join us at 6 p.m. in historic Oakhurst (off Whitlock Avenue) for dancing and mingling with family, friends, and Walker faculty and staff, including the faculty band, Extra Credit!

Groovin' on the Green is an outdoor, adults only (21+) community building event hosted by The Walker School parent organizations: WSA, POTA, and the Walker Backers.

What is Groovin' on the Green?

Groovin' on the Green is an outdoor Chastain-style event where guests bring their picnics and beverages and enjoy an evening of entertainment with EXTRA CREDIT (a talented group of our own faculty!)

What do we bring, and is dinner provided?

The ticket cost covers the entertainment, tables, chairs, candles, and tablecloths - more elegant than Chastain! YOU provide your group's ambiance - you can go all out and compete for the most decorative table, or enjoy the simple elegance we provide. You can pre-order dinner from Cheryl Glaser when you purchase your tickets (April 28th deadline), the El Nopal food truck will be onsite that evening, or you can provide your own picnic supper. Don't forget your choice of beverage!

Who benefits from Groovin' on the Green?

Groovin' on the Green is a school-wide event that builds community and shows appreciation for our faculty and staff who receive complimentary tickets to the event. Net proceeds, if any, equally benefit POTA, Walker Backers and the WSA.

Where is Groovin' on the Green?

This year's rain or shine event will take place at Historic Oakhurst, 310 Oakhurst Lane, Marietta 30064, at the corner of Whitlock Ave and Whitlock Dr. Guests may be dropped off at the event; however, no parking will be permitted. Free parking will be provided at 25 Polk Street (near the intersection of Polk St and North Marietta Parkway), and shuttles will run all evening. How do I register - as an individual or a group?

Faculty and staff are complementary; parents pay $35 per person or $280 per table of 8. If you have your own group of 8, one person can register and be reimbursed by their tablemates. If you register individually, you can request to be seated with friends. You can specify if you would like to sit with a specific group or grade (e.g. Cub Scouts or 2nd Grade table). There is lots of mingling, and of course dancing, so table placement is just part of what makes the evening fun!

Need a babysitter? While parents have their own fun night out, Coach Steffen and the Middle School Cheerleaders are offering a fantastic, fun-filled Kids’ Night Out! Early Learners through 5th graders can join the Walker Middle School cheerleaders from 5:30 - 11 p.m. in the Coles Athletic Center for fun activities, games, videos, and pizza!
