Dance classes are semester-length courses designed to introduce the beginner student to the fundamentals of dance as well as strengthen the technique of the experienced dancer. Students spend the first quarter on ballet and the second quarter on jazz/modern fusion. Ballet gives the students a solid foundation in body position, balance, and terminology, while jazz focuses on building strength and stamina using the Horton technique. At the end of each quarter, there is an observation day in which parents, friends, and faculty may come and watch class. Students are also invited to perform each year in the Fine Arts Showcase.
