Mission
The mission of The Walker School Alumni Association is to work for the benefit and good of The Walker School in all facets, including the financial stability of the school, the enhancement of the school's reputation in the community and the encouragement of goodwill towards the school within the alumni community.
The Director of Alumni Relations
The Director of Alumni Relations serves as the school's liaison to the alumni community. In this role, the Director of Alumni Relations serves as the director of The Walker School Alumni Association. The Director of Alumni Relations also serves as an ex-officio member and Secretary of the Alumni Board.
Kaleb McMichen ('01), serves as Walker's Director of Alumni Relations, having been appointed to the position in July 2008. He was also named the school's Director of Planned Giving in April 2010.
The Alumni Board
The purpose of the Alumni Board is work to galvanize and direct members of the Association in giving to support the school, create educational opportunities for the existing student body and maintain a lifelong relationship between the school and its alumni. The Alumni Board shall work to further the mission of the Association by advising the Director of Alumni Relations and working together to plan and execute the Association's programs and events.
The full Board meets once per quarter in the Leithead Board Room and has four standing committees that carry out the work of the Board between quarterly meetings. Members of the Alumni Board serve on a voluntary basis for two-year terms. The Alumni Board is self-perpetuating.
In addition to alumni members of the board, there are Walker's Director of Alumni Relations, Kaleb McMichen (`01), Alumni Ambassador and former Lower School Principal Billie Walker, Director of Development Cathy LaClaire and Head of School Jack Hall, who serve as ex-officio members and provide the school's vision for the Alumni Association.
