Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Can we only visit on Open House dates or can we have an individual tour?

A

We give individual tours everyday that our students are in school. Call Patti Logan at 678-581-6891 for an appointment.

Q

May our student Shadow?

A

We love to have students applying to Grades 2 – 12 shadow. You may call the Admission Office to set that up. We will do their interview while they are on campus if the application for admission has been submitted.

Q

What is a mini tour?

A

We do mini tours starting in January for the students applying to Early Learners, PK, and K so that they get to know us prior to the Observation and Interview. Mini tours last about 15 minutes.

Q

A

You should give the forms to your current school anytime after the first of January.

We do not give scholarships. We do, however, offer need based financial aid. You may apply for financial aid online at http://sss.nais.org/ . Please contact our office for more details. 678-581-6891

Q

What is included in tuition?

A

Lunch for Full Day Early Learners – 12th grade, textbooks for Early Learners – 5th grades, and all registration fees.

Q

What do you look for in a candidate?

A

We look for motivated, average to superior, college bound students with no behavior or attendance problems. We do have a resource center to help children with mild learning differences but we are not set up for moderate to severe learning differences.

Q

Why do you have a September 1 birthday cut off for students entering PK and K?

A

The September 1 cut off is “not written in stone”, however, our program is advanced and it is a benefit for the children to be older when entering Walker. Every child is an individual so we are happy to evaluate a child and determine if they are ready for our program even if their birthday comes after the September 1 cutoff.

Q

Why should we choose Walker?

A

Just walk in the door and we think you will sense the warm, loving environment that is The Walker School. A parent once made us a sampler that said “Love Is Spoken Here”. Combine that with challenging academics that prepare young people for college and life and an array of sports and activities, you have a winning combination.
