Our faculty and staff consist of over 180 teachers, staff and administrators who form a community of dedicated professionals devoted to helping each student reach his or her full potential. They often put in many additional hours helping our students with their studies, projects, clubs and sporting events.
The average Walker teacher has been here for 17 years and 70% of our lead teachers hold advanced degrees. All of our teachers engage in regular professional development, which speaks to the expertise of our faculty. So when your student asks "Why?" a few more times after the lesson's done, her teacher can satisfy her increasing levels of curiosity, providing not just answers, but posing challenging new questions.
Our teachers also talk to each other -- all the time. It sounds simple, but translates into a big part of the Walker experiences. Because our teachers care about your child's holistic success, they regularly check in with each other to discuss her academic performance, her emerging interests, her strengths and struggles. That is why we often use the phrase "meaningful relationships inspire transformative learning."
Parents and students often form close bonds with our staff. It is not uncommon for Walker alumni to keep in touch with many of the teachers who have so deeply influenced their lives long after they have graduated.
