"Gap Year" Information
Some students take the year after high school graduation to do something else or something worthwhile before entering college. The best advice is to have a plan that includes a budget for this possible year or semester. It is also critical to gain permission from the college to which the student has been accepted and wishes to attend. Many colleges will grant a deferral, especially if the student is doing some type of service or special plan instead of entering college straight after high school. The student must obtain this deferral from the college and needs to obtain the deferment in writing.
